Theodore Roosevelt's Ideas on Immigration

Theodore Roosevelt's ideas on Immigrants and being an AMERICAN in 1907

We should insist that if the immigrant who comes here does in good faith become an American and assimilates himself to us he shall be treated on an exact equality with every one else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed or birth-place or origin.

But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American and nothing but an American. If he tries to keep segregated with men of his own origin and separated from the rest of America, then he isn't doing his part as an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. . . We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language, for we intend to see that the crucible turns our people out as Americans, of American nationality, and not as dwellers in a polyglot boarding-house; and we have room for but one soul loyalty, and that is loyalty to the American people.

New Pledge of Allegiance

The following poem prayer was penned by an anonymous author, often contributed to a 15 year old kid somewhere. Regardless of its source, I love it. Don't get me wrong. I support the concept of separation of church and state -- you know, preventing the government from controlling churches. No worry about the government or the politically correct crowd trying to crush the spirit of the "golden rule" or that of the 10 Commandments here on my blog site though!

NEW School prayer :
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd. If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now. Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice. !
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state. We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks..
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong. We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd. It's scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school's a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen

Today's quote is from a guy named Donald Foster. He is a professor at Vassar College. He's a "literary analyst" who discovered a "long lost poem" was penned by Shakespeare and that Joe Klein was the author of "Primary Colors" by analyzing their writing styles and idiosyncrasies. Stuff like that is "write" down my alley!

No one who cannot rejoice in the discovery of his own mistakes deserves to be called a scholar

Political Correctness Run Amok

This is crazy! How much more can I take? Is our society becoming completely unhinged? Can the term "black hole" really be misconstrued?

The FITNA Video and Free Speech on the 'Net

I was recently sent the link to the video FITNA via my email. It's a graphic 17 minute video by Dutch politician Geerte Wilders. The video's message is that Islam and the Koran are responsible for inspiring terrorism and hatred of other religions, and provides plenty of examples.

Being an American, I believe in free speech and freedom of religion, so I've elected to make it available here considering the nature of this blog. I'm interested in the opinions of those who may view it here for the first time or of those who may have seen it previously, elsewhere.

I don't believe the Koran or Islam is responsible for inspiring Jihadist terrorism, I believe that is the work of radical Islamists and Jihadists who distort, use, and interpret the Koran, the hadiths, and other sacred writings for their own hateful purposes. But, I provide the movie's link for you to make up your own mind.

Faceless Folk Make A Mystery Apperance

Recently, faceless folk have been showing themselves at high visibility and celebrity events around the world. See the story here:

"The Black National Anthem"

An artist decides she wants to sing something other then our National Anthem recently in front of Denver's Mayor at his annual "state of the city" event.

LIFT EV'RY VOICE AND SING
also known as
"The Black National Anthem"
by James Weldon Johnson

Lift ev'ry voice and sing,
Till earth and heaven ring.
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise,
High as the list'ning skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on till victory is won.

Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chast'ning rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet,
Come to the place for which our fathers sighed?
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
Till now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might,
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest our hearts, drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee,
Shadowed beneath thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.
